The selection process for stays has begun!

The International Relations Office at MENDELU announces a selection procedure for study stays within the Erasmus+ program (EU) and bilateral agreements (outside the EU) for the 2026/2027 academic year. Applications for study exchange stays are submitted via the Student Portal in UIS.

Go abroad for a study stay longer than 30 days during your Bachelor’s degree and gain automatic admission to a follow-up Master’s programme without entrance exams. Living in an international city like Brno is just the beginning. Through international mobility, you can immerse yourself in another culture, build global relationships, and gain a new perspective on life. You can study abroad at a partner university or complete a traineeship at companies and institutions. While abroad, you will improve your language skills and gain valuable experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

A second round of the selection procedure in May 2026 will take place only if funds are available. It will be confirmed in the spring, after the first-round results are known.

Where do you want to go – Europe or the wider world?

Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, you can study or undertake traineeships abroad at partner universities in European Union countries and in several associated countries. The programme offers simple administration, financial support, and a wide network of partner institutions.

If you are interested in destinations beyond Europe, take advantage of bilateral agreements. These enable study stays at partner universities worldwide, from the U.S. to Asia. Conditions may vary by university, but the experience you gain is invaluable. A special extension of the Erasmus+ programme, known as credit mobility, also opens the door to selected non-EU countries. You can find the current list of available destinations on the IRO MENDELU website.

Study Stay

A study stay means that you choose from pre-approved partner universities to go abroad. At the host university, you study courses in the same way as at MENDELU. Upon your return, the courses and credits you completed abroad will be recognized in your studies at PEF MENDELU.

Bonus for Bachelor’s students

Go on a study stay longer than 30 days and gain automatic admission to a follow-up Master’s degree programme. You only need to submit a Request for an exception from the rule to carry out the admission exam for the follow-up Master’s programme.

Intership

During an internship, you work in a company that you either find on your own or choose based on recommendations from the faculty. More information is available in the “How to apply” section.

As part of your application, you must submit an acceptance letter from the receiving organization that includes the student’s name, job description, and internship dates.

After successfully completing the traineeship, you will receive 4 ECTS credits for every 30 days spent abroad. You can also use the traineeship to fulfil the compulsory professional internship, if it is part of your study programme.

General conditions

  • Students may take part in study stays or traineeships repeatedly; however,
    the total duration of all mobilities must not exceed 12 months within the same level of study.
  • The duration of a study stay, or traineeship under the Erasmus+ programme, is a minimum of 2 months (60 days) and a maximum of 12 months (360 days).
  • The duration of a study stay, or traineeship under bilateral agreements, is a minimum of 1 month (30 days) and a maximum of 12 months (360 days).
  • Applications may be submitted only during the official selection period.

Study stays

The following courses cannot be included in the Learning Agreement:

  • Courses that the student has already completed
  • Language courses at the same or a lower level than the level already achieved by the student

Erasmus+

The student must include professional courses at the host institution in the Learning Agreement, with a minimum of 18 ECTS credits.

Bilateral agreements

The student must complete at least 3 professional courses during the study stay.
Ph.D. students must complete a minimum of 1 professional course and provide confirmation of work on their dissertation thesis.

  1. University Selection: Choose up to 4 partner universities from the program offers (Erasmus+ or Bilateral Agreements) that interest you.
  2. Online Application: Complete the application in the UIS (University Information System). Go to: Student’s Portal → Application for an Exchange Stay. You can list up to 4 universities and rank them in your order of preference.
  3. Learning Agreement Proposal (mandatory attachment): You must attach a Learning Agreement Proposal to your application. Complete a separate document for each selected university. List the courses you plan to study at the host university and the corresponding courses at PEF (Faculty of Business and Economics) that you want to be recognized. Use this guide to help you fill it out.
  4. Submitting the Learning Agreement Proposal: Upload all completed Learning Agreement Proposals into UIS as a single file.

If you are accepted for the study stay and want to submit your Learning Agreement, here is how courses completed abroad can be recognized:

  • Recognition for a Specific Course in the Study Plan: You can have a course studied abroad recognized for a specific course in your study plan. Check your study plan in Student’s Portal → Plan progress check. Send the syllabus of the foreign course to the Faculty Exchange Coordinator (or relevant officer), together with the code and name of the PEF course you want it recognized for. Recognition is possible if the syllabi match by at least 60%.
  • Recognition as an Elective Course: If you cannot find a match with a specific course, you can have it recognized as an elective course under the code: EXA-UP Recognized international mobility course.

Focus “International Mobility”
  • IT Fields – to meet the focus, students must complete 4 specialized courses at the host university related to their field of study. You must consult the International Office Coordinator before choosing courses. There is no minimum credit requirement, but if the total credits are less than 20 ECTS, you must make up the difference with elective courses at MENDELU.
  • Economics Fields – to fulfil the focus, students must complete any 3 courses at the host university. Language and cultural courses are also counted, and there is no credit limit.

Practical internship

  1. The internship content must correspond to the student’s field of study, and the intern must work full-time according to local standards. 
  2. The internship must not start or end on weekends. 
  3. Travel to the student’s country of residence is not permitted.
  4. Students from another country who wish to complete an internship in their country of origin have the lowest priority. 
  5. Internships can be carried out in public or private organizations, excluding EU institutions and bodies. 
  6. Students onmobility must complete the required number of credits to register for the next semester:
    • 1st semester: at least 15 ECTS
    • Other semesters: at least 40 ECTS in total over the last two studied semesters 
  7. Students may not be employed in the Czech Republic during the internship. 
  1. Find a company or institution that will accept you for an internship. 
  2. Obtain an acceptance letter from the company/institution. 
  3. Submit your application through the Contact Centre: Student’s Portal → Contact Centre → Looking for a Solution. Applications can be submitted only during the official selection period. The mandatory attachment is an Acceptance letter from the receiving organization that includes the student’s name, job description, and internship dates.

  • For every completed month (i.e., 30 days) of the internship, the student receives 4 ECTS credits. 
  • Recognition of Professional Internship: The student can have the traineeship recognized as a Professional Internship which is part of their study plan. 
  • Recognition of Remaining Credits: The remaining credits earned (beyond the mandatory internship) will be recognized as an elective course under the code EXA-UP0x (Recognized international mobility course). 

If you have already completed an internship abroad within the same study cycle, you will not be financially supported with a scholarship by the International Relations Office (IRO MENDELU). However, you can apply for financial support through the EDUCA consortium, which supports internships with a maximum duration of 4 months. Administrative duties must be fulfilled in the same way as for the Erasmus+ program (checklists, documents, etc.).

  1. Application Submission: The student submits an application in the UIS (University Information System) within the Contact Centre section. 
  2. Language Examination: The IRO will send the internship request to the Faculty and arrange a language proficiency test with the student. 
  3. Once the Faculty approves the internship, the IRO will send the student the application form and the Learning Agreement-Traineeship document (both provided by the EDUCA consortium) for completion. 
  4.  After completion, both documents will be confirmed first by the IRO and then by the Faculty. 
  5.  The IRO will send both completed and confirmed documents to EDUCA. 
  6.  You will also communicate and follow EDUCA’s instructions. You will have a Checklist in which you will upload all documents with the note “internship through EDUCA”. You do not need to fill out the EU Survey or the final report. EDUCA’s insurance does not cover everything, so take out the basic EDUCA insurance and at the same time we recommend supplementing it with MENDELU insurance, which has broader coverage.
  • Responsible Person: The person responsible (for internship approval) is the Vice-Dean for Creative Activities, who must also be listed in the signature section of the Traineeship Agreement (TA) document. 
  • Credit Recognition (for students with “International Activities” course): If the student has the course International Activities (or equivalent) in their study plan, they must check the first option when filling out Table B in the TA and will receive 10 ECTS credits. Otherwise, they will not receive any credit for the compulsory part and must check the second option – voluntary traineeship for 0 ECTS. 
  • For Ph.D. students,there are additional special scholarship offers available. 
  • The work placement can take place within 12 months after graduation. 
  • Student becomes graduate on the day of successfully passing the state examination – the work placement must start and end within exactly one year starting from this day. 
  • Financial support is available for only 2 months. 
  • Participant must successfully pass the selection procedure BEFORE his/her graduation, i.e., before the date of the state examination. 
  • Student cannot continue with further studies afterwards.
